100 years of engineering excellence
We manufacture made-to-order, high quality components such as bolts, studs and fasteners. Our products ‘hold together’ racing cars, hospital scanners, power station generators and suspension bridges and many other critical industrial parts.
Our success owes much to our long-established reputation for product quality excellence, full material traceability and highly competitive prices.
At the beginning of the last century, Thomas. F. Dobson started a precision engineering business in Blackburn based on the principal: “only the best is good enough.”
The Dobson & Beaumont families merged their engineering interests in 1978 and quickly doubled their joint capacity. Over the decades, the success of the enterprise owes much to our reputation for production quality and customer service.
“Only the best is good enough.”

Dobson & Beaumont specialise in the manufacture of roll threaded studs and bolts in high tensile alloys and stainless steels in sizes from 4mm to 100mm diameter and in any standard or non-standard thread form.
A large proportion of our output goes into power generation plant in the form of big end bolts, cylinder head and main bearing studs.
Another area of our expertise is the manufacture of small critical fasteners in alloy steels and titanium alloys for the racing car industry where the utmost precision and fast turn round are essential.
We are proud to have supplied to world-leading advanced manufacturers and designers and we are equally proud to deliver our bespoke products to single person enterprises.
We offer high precision CNC machining facilities for general engineering components; our centreless grinding department offers plunge and throughfeed grinding between 4mm and 100mm diameter, and our thread rolling department can offer sub-contract plunge and throughfeed thread rolling between 3mm and 100mm diameter in most thread profiles in industrial use.
These services are backed by a comprehensive in-house calibration and thread measuring facility with measurements traceable to national standards.
In addition we offer non-destructive testing in Brinell hardness. Qualified to PCN Level 2, skilled operators can also provide ultrasonic examination, and magnetic particle testing to national and international standards.
Where independent or third party witness testing are required we arrange this with fully accredited establishments. Where sub-contract heat treatment or plating is required we arrange for this to be done by approved sources.
We are happy to quote for any quantity from a one-off to large batches, and stock significant quantities of mill-certificated materials to cater for shorter delivery times.
We are family-owned, and we are also a family business in wider sense: many of our highly experienced colleagues have grown and developed their skills having been part of the business since leaving education.
We have great pride in what we do and this all comes from inside, from the people who work here and who deliver the products we are proud of. From a small ‘front of house’ office team through to the manufacturing team, everyone at D&B is dedicated to producing the very best quality products.
Our friendly office team, led by Diane, look forward to helping you.
